Nanjing Road Walkway

Nanjing Road Walkway, located in Huangpu District of Shanghai, China, is one of the most famous commercial streets in the country. After the introduction of trams in 1908, Nanjing Road experienced its first major wave of development. British-funded companies such as Hall, Haltz & Co. Ltd., Whiteaway, Laidlaw & Co. Ltd., Lane, Crawford & Co. Ltd. (Lane Crawford), and Weeks & Co. Ltd., as well as foreign-owned businesses like Sincere Company Ltd., Wing On Department Store, Hengdeli Watches, Hengyuanxiang, Zhang Xiaoquan, and Lao Feng Xiang specialty stores, gradually established a presence, making Nanjing Road a symbol of the cosmopolitan lifestyle of old Shanghai. Following China's reform and opening-up, Nanjing Road entered a new period of rapid development, with numerous large-scale commercial complexes emerging along the street.
