The Twin Hills

The Twin Hills are located in the southern section of the Shanghai Expo Cultural Park, on the convex bank of the Huangpu River in the central area of Pudong, Shanghai. Standing nearly 50 meters tall, they are large man-made structures resembling natural mountains. While the exterior is covered with natural forest-style vegetation, the interior serves various architectural functions.

The Twin Hills consist of a main hill and an auxiliary hill. The surface reflects a natural and green landscape, while the interior features include sightseeing pathways, public parking, exhibition areas, and visitor services. The main structure adopts a PEC frame-shear wall system. The Twin Hills are the first man-made, hollow, forest-mimicking mountain structures in China to exceed 40 meters in height.
